The Center for Islamic Civilization in Tashkent stands at the intersection of culture, history, and faith. It‘s a place where Uzbekistan‘s rich intellectual and artistic heritage meets the possibilities of the future. Through conversations with scholars, curators, and craftspeople, we see how an idea conceived nearly a decade ago has grown into a national center dedicated to rediscovering the spirit of the Islamic Golden Age. Inside its walls, ancient manuscripts are being preserved and digitized, thousands of artifacts have been returned home, and new technologies bring history vividly to life. Beyond the Center, in the workshops of the Abul Kasim Madrasah, master artisans, woodcarvers, miniature painters, and ceramicists continue traditions that have shaped the region for centuries. Together, these voices reveal a living continuation of creativity and knowledge, showing how the legacy of Islamic civilization is not only remembered, but renewed in the heart of modern Uzbekistan.
